ALCO builders photo of Central Railroad of New Jersey S1 #1025. Early CNJ diesel switchers, which wore "CRR of NJ" on the hood were, also painted in Pullman Green. When the CNJ became disappointed in their Post-WWII color scheme of blue and orange due to early fading of the pigments they turned to Deep Sea Green and yellow as a replacement. That color, with or without road engine stripes, identified CNJ diesels until the 1970s red and white scheme. The red and white was Trustee Robert Timpany's effort to create a new image for the poor old CNJ. |
